(LOT 1001)
1953 Ticket Stub – Mickey Mantle "Walk-Off" Homer Defeats Boston 6-3 (PSA VG/EX 4) – The SOLE Graded Example

On April 23, 1953, the Yankees would defeat their rival Boston Red Sox by a 6-3 score at Yankee Stadium. Trailing 3-1, the BoSox would tie the game 3-3 in the top of the 9th inning, only to see the immortal Mickey Mantle wallop a game winning walk-off 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth off of Ellis Kinder. This ultra-rare grandstand ticket stub from that game has been encapsulated by the illustrious PSA Grading Service and assigned a formidable VG/EX 4 assessment.

The red/orange hued ticket stub includes the standard "RAIN CHECK", $1.25 Grandstand Fee, Yankee emblem, and "GAME NO. 5" text placing it as an irrefutable April 23, 1953 Yankees – Red Sox ticket (April 23rd was the 5th home game for the Yankees in 1953). Interestingly enough, this would be the first "walk-off" home run of "The Mick's" iconic career, with the young Yankee superstar rapidly embarking on a career that would ultimately lead to his legendary stature!
