(LOT 981)
1954 Topps #128 Autographed Hank Aaron Rookie Card w/a Vintage Mid-1950's Signature (PSA Encapsulated "Authentic")

The 1954 Hank Aaron rookie card needs no introduction, for it certainly stands as one of the most significant post-WWII issues. This particular offering just happens to be signed by the great "Hammerin Hank" in bold blue ball point pen with the mid-50's style script secured by a piece of vintage tape. Indeed, it was customary for many collectors in the 1950's to protect their signed cards by placing a piece of transparent tape over the autograph. Unquestionably, this signature presents a style of writing utilized by the immortal Aaron during the mid-1950's, with period-style signed 1954 Aaron rookie cards few and far between. The final exclamation point is the superb portrait image that has eluded the stray wrinkles predominately situated near the outer borders. Considering virtually all Henry Aaron signed rookie cards portray "sharpie-like" scripts, this seemingly timeless 66-year old marvel resides as one of the scarcest signed Aaron cards extant based on its near-impossible vintage ball-point signature!
