(LOT 608)
1954 Stahl Meyer Signed Duke Snider (Beckett Authentication/Encapsulation)

One of the most obscure 1950's issues are the ultra-scarce Stahl Meyer Franks cards distributed in packages of hot dogs by a New York based meat-company from 1953 thru 1955 (the scarcer 1954 & 1955 issues include yellow borders as opposed to the 1953 issues that reflect white borders). Considered ultra-conditions sensitive, the 1954 set included 12 subjects, with one of those players being the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame centerfielder Duke Snider.

Along with Mantle and Mays, the "Duke of Flatbush" dominated the New York "centerfielder scene" throughout the 1950's, with this super eclectic 1954 Stahl Meyer offering actually signed by the perennial all-star in extremely bold blue sharpie. While the standard staining/soiling is evident, the central image has fortunately eluded any major flaws, with the critical "Duke Snider" script situated above Snider's Brooklyn cap absolutely stealing the show!
