(LOT 113)
1930 Bobby Jones 'Grand Slam" PSA Type l Encapsulated Underwood & Underwood Photo - Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

This outstanding 1930 offering portrays Hall of Fame golfer Bobby Jones receiving a trophy from Finley S. Douglas (President of the U.S. Golf Association) for winning the US Amateur tournament at the Merion Crocket Club in Philadelphia, PA. Incredibly, this would be the fourth Major Championship Jones claimed in the 1930 season, hailing him as the only golfer to ever win the "Pre-Masters" Grand Slam (winning all four major championships in the same calendar year).

His four 1930 Major wins included: "The Amateur Championship" (Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland – May 31, 1930); "The Open Championship" (Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, England – June 20, 1930); "The U.S. Open" (Interlachen Country Club, Minnesota – July 12, 1930); and the "US Amateur" (Merion Golf Club, Pennsylvania – September 27, 1930). Measuring approximately 8" x 10", this Underwood & Underwood photo has retained a majority of its original sparking attributes, only revealing two negligible lower corner chips that do not negatively impact the otherwise superb aesthetics. The final compliment is the verso's 9-27-30 caption that provides a detailed account of this renowned September 27, 1930 event that will forever reside as one of golfing's epic moments! - PSA Type I Encapsulation
