Classic Lou Gehrig Batting Swing at the Inaugural 1933 All-Star Game – PSA Type II Encapsulated ACME Newspictures Photo – Measures Approx. 7" x 9"

This classic Lou Gehrig batting photo was taken during batting practice at the inaugural 1933 All-Star Game in Chicago. On July 6, 1933, baseball's greatest stars would assemble at Chicago's Comiskey Park to compete in our National Pastime's inaugural All-Star game that was an integral part of the 1933 Chicago's World Fair in celebration of the city's centennial. Dubbed "The Game of the Century", the players would be selected by both the fans (starting nine) and managers (additional nine players). The teams were managed by the arguable finest two manager's in baseball history, Connie Mack and John McGraw, and the game itself couldn't have included a finer Hollywood script for in the bottom of the third inning, the incomparable Babe Ruth would step to the plate and belt a game decisive two-run homer! Hall of Famer Lefty Gomez took credit for the 4-2 A.L. win with Redbirds southpaw Bill Hallahan taking the loss.

Measuring approximately 7" x 9", this PSA Type II offering was re-issued by ACME Newspictures during the 1940's, still placing it as a roughly "70/80" year-old keepsake portraying one of the finest "Iron Horse" swinging poses you will ever come across. Gehrig's classic batting practice illustration is absolutely breathtaking as he watches another walloped baseball approach Comiskey Park's grand-stands. The only noteworthy flaws are a series of creases and/or surface indentations across the upper region/border, and the verso reveals the renowned ACME Newspictures credit stamp. Although re-issued during the 1940's, its brilliant aesthetics, monumental 1933 Mid-Summer Classic stature, and imposing Henry Louis Gehrig batting image all combine to place it as a serious addition to any sophisticated photo compilation! – PSA Type II Encapsulation
