(LOT 99)
1927 Ty Cobb & Eddie Collins PSA Type I Encapsulated Newspaper Enterprise Association Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

Talk about two baseball legends in a single photo! Indeed, this breathtaking 1927 PSA Type 1 photo depicts Hall of Fame immortals Ty Cobb and Eddie Collins posing with a classic 1927 Studebaker automobile. Measuring approximately 8" x 10", this museum worthy masterpiece portrays the "Georgia Peach" donning his Athletics uniform (sporting the classic Elephant insignia) while Eddie Collins is likewise wearing his A's attire as he sits in the driver's seat of this classic '27 Studebaker. The windshield reveals a sign that reads: "CHICAGO "BATTING" FOR COLLINS – STUTZ for SAFETY", and the central image is absolutely breathtaking, exhibiting superior contrast and crystal-clear clarity.

For full disclosure, there are light wrinkles situated near all four corners, and the upper left and lower right corners reflect diminutive chips. The critical N.E.A. violet credit stamp (Newspaper Enterprise Association) and July 15, 1927 date are situated on the flipside, with additional typed notations including Ty Cobb and Eddie Collins names. Of significant note, for the 1927 season, Connie Mack would purchase both Cobb and Collins to bolster his already formidable roster that included Cooperstown inductees Foxx, Simmons, Cochrane, Wheat and Grove. Nearing the end of their illustrious careers, Cobb and Collins would certainly earn their salaries, posting spectacular .357 and .336 batting averages, respectively, substantiating that both these baseball icons could still stroke a baseball equal to their finest peers.

Unfortunately for the A's, their performance wasn't enough to win the A.L. Pennant, with the Yankees marching to their highly celebrated 1927 Championship. As an aftermath to the renowned 1927 campaign, the Yankees would move on to claim another World Series title in 1928 before being eventually dethroned by Connie Mack's Athletics from 1929 thru 1931. A remarkable illustration reflecting two of our National Pastime's legendary stars, it merits a final resting place in any esteemed photo gathering! - PSA Type I Encapsulation
