1954 Jackie Robinson Signed 1954 Banquet Brochure Batting Photo - Exact Image Used for His Legendary 1950 Bowman #22 Subject - Measures Approx. 7-3/4" x 9-3/4" – PSA/DNA Encapsulation - "Mint 9" Autograph!

The significance of Jackie Robinson "Breaking the MLB Color Barrier" in 1947 will forever stand as one of the foremost moments in our National Pastime's glorious history. Courtesy of Dodgers fearless GM Branch Rickey and Jackie himself, the racial tensions that put a stranglehold on baseball were met "head-on" for opening day 1947, eventually opening the door for a countless number of outstanding African-American players to finally display their skills on major league ballfields. This occurrence was such a "celebrated event", a few years ago MLB ultimately decided to retire Jackie's immortal #42 jersey number, with every MLB team forbid to issue the classic #42 to any ballplayer. Not even the incomparable Babe Ruth has achieved that stature, and it substantiates why Jackie Robinson memorabilia is currently realizing an explosive-like frenzy with regard to their escalating pricing points. One of those esteemed collecting angles is scarce signed artifacts, and with that in mind, we now present this remarkable 1954 Banquet Brochure/Handbill batting photo boldly signed in blue ink: "Best Wishes – Jackie Robinson". Scripted in a near-perfect position directly beneath Jackie's belt, PSA/DNA has appropriately graded this magnificent autograph a "Mint 9".

Just as enticing is the fact that this was the EXACT image used for Robinson's iconic 1950 Bowman #22 subject, with this auction also offering an Original PSA Type 1 illustration of this same image as LOT# 83 in our revered photo section. Based on the printed text along the upper and lower borders, this magazine-like photo was pulled from a Banquet Handbill distributed to guests at the Hotel Newburgh on Tuesday, November 16, 1954. It appears that Jackie Robinson was the guest speaker in the hotel's "Green Room", and in typical fashion, he must have signed this classic batting image for a very fortunate attendee. Measuring approximately 7-3/4" x 9-3/4", the 1950 Bowman batting image emulates spectacular contrast and resolution, with the left border revealing several edge hole punches indicating it was removed from the banquet pamphlet and most likely placed in a punch-hole binder. The upper edge includes a negligible manual wavy trim, and the lower border and verso exhibit blotched areas of staining. Most significantly, however, the staining does not impede the central Robinson batting image that along with its imposing "Best Wishes – Jackie Robinson" autograph, suffices as one of the premier signed Jackie keepsakes you will ever come across! – PSA/DNA "Mint 9" Encapsulation
