(LOT 632)
1952 New York Yankees World Championship Team Photo – International News Type 1 Photo - Measures Approx. 7" x 9" - PSA Type 1 Encapsulation

This spectacular 7" x 9" 1952 Yankees team photo portrays one of baseball's greatest teams ever, with this legendary New York club capturing their fourth consecutive World Championship by defeating the Brooklyn Dodgers in the Fall Classic. Spearheaded by future Cooperstown Inductees Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Johnny Mize & Phil Rizzuto, the 1952 Yankees were led by their Hall of Fame manager Casey Stengel and would win 95 games to claim the American League Pennant by two games over a fine Cleveland club. In the World Series, they would beat the Dodgers in a tightly contested 7-game match, led by their budding superstar Mickey Mantle who walloped the first two of his record 18 World Series homers, as well as knocking in five runs and batting a robust .345 via 10 safeties.

The "Mick's" second round-tripper of the series would put the Yankees up by a 3-2 score in the sixth inning of game#7 at Ebbits Field; a lead they would never relinquish. This International News Photo includes six Hall of Famers with the five aforementioned Cooperstown Inductees joined by HOF coach Bill Dickey. One glance at this historical keepsake substantiates the notion that it has stubbornly defied "Father-Time", with 67 years of potential wear showing no ill effects on this seemingly timeless image. Brilliant resolution and contrast, fine centering, a relatively clean surface and a flipside caption listing all of the 1952 Yankees presented in this classic offering are the critical attributes supporting its world-class aesthetics, ironically synonymous with the 1952 "Champion" Yankees elite stature!
