1951 Bowman #24 Ewell Blackwell (PSA Gem Mint 10) – "1 of 2": Highest Graded Example!
Nicknamed "The Whip" because of his hard throwing sidearm delivery, 6'6" Ewell Blackwell's finest season was in 1947 when he won 22 games including 16 in a row for a weak hitting Cincinnati Reds team. In 1947, he came so close to matching Johnny Vander Meer's two successive no-hitters. After no-hitting Boston 6-0 on June 18th, he took another potential no-no into the 9th inning on June 22nd against the Dodgers, only to have Eddie Stanky break up his bid for immortality.
Fortunately for Blackwell, this extraordinary 1951 Bowman "PSA Gem Mint 10" will forever secure his cardboard legacy via its highest graded "1 of 2" stature! Boasting a sparkling portrait image of the fire-balling righty, its dazzling white borders, virtually perfect centering, flawless-like surfaces and sharp right-angled corners all combine to support the world-class assessment!
