(LOT 11)
1910 E93 Standard Caramel Ty Cobb (PSA EX 5) - "1 of 3"

Typical with most pre-WWI cardboard issues, the ultra-popular E93 Standard Caramel's most coveted and valuable subject just happens to be the immortal 1936 Hall of Fame charter member Ty Cobb, and it his outstanding E93 specimen that is presented here in a PSA EX 5 holder. Seldom surfacing in high-grade, of the 80+ PSA encapsulated examples, only twelve other copies exists have achieved a higher assessment! The "Georgia Peach" entered the Hall of Fame in 1936 when he was included as one of Cooperstown's five charter members along with Ruth, Wagner, Mathewson and Johnson. Most baseball historians agree that his incredible .366 lifetime batting average may never be eclipsed as well as his unfathomable 12 American League Batting Titles (all achieved in a miraculous 13-year span!).

Few of his century old cards could possibly surpass the brilliance of this candy card masterpiece that portrays Cobb in an eclectic fielding image also included on his popular E94 and E98 candy cards. The iconic central fielding pose, left arm outstretched as he catches another fly ball, is near-flawless, depicting an awe-inspiring array of gray colored hues with Cobb wearing his classic "turn of the century" vintage style sweater. The bold and seemingly flawless orange background elevates the Cobb image to a stratospheric level, with the image favoring the right edge between four relatively clean white borders. The four corners reveal modest wear consistent with the grade, no glaring surface flaws are evident, and the verso includes a nearly impeccable checklist. A sensational 109-year old memento, it captures the "Georgia Peach" in one of his most coveted cardboard illustrations and reflects a well-merited "EX/5" grade based on the vast majority of its original mid-grade qualities stubbornly defying "father time"!
