(LOT 112)
1915 World Champion Red Sox Infielders Original Type I Photo – Underwood & Underwood – Measures Approx. 8" x 9-7/8" – Full PSA Type 1 LOA

The 1915 season would see the Boston Red Sox capture the World Championship, with a rookie Babe Ruth joining a solid pitching staff and likewise formidable Bo-Sox starting team. One of the key cogs for this dominating club would be their stellar infield that included 1st baseman Dick Hoblitzall; 2nd sacker Jack Barry (formerly from the legendary Athletics $100,000 infield); shortstop Everett Scott and 3rd baseman Larry Gardner. While none of these players would eclipse the .300 batting mark, their combined stellar defense and timely hitting proved invaluable as they strongly supported a superb pitching staff in leading Boston to a World Series title. As a remarkable heirloom from that renowned 1915 campaign, presented here is an awe-inspiring 8' x 9-7/8" (oversized fro that period) image of these four infielders from that iconic campaign.

Taken by the prestigious Underwood & Underwood News Service, it reveals outstanding resolution and a somewhat darker toned contrast. All four players are donning their period-style "Red Sox" uniforms with arms folded, and while the critical central image is relatively unimpeded, surrounding flaws include several b order/corner chips, scattered creasing and various areas exhibiting surface cracking (primarily situated beneath the players waists). A magnificent 104-year old keepsake, it rekindles memories of how Babe Ruth joined an already formidable Red Sox squad and ably assisted them in capturing three world championships in a four-year period (1915; '16 & '18)! - Full PSA Type I LOA and a letter from the Walsh family.
