(LOT 97)
1909 T206 Hughie Jennings "Portrait" – Sweet Caporal 350 Subjects/Factory 30 (PSA NM/MT 8) - "1 of 2" Sweet Caps; NO PSA Listed Sweet Caps Graded Higher"!

If you have the "faith of a child", you believe that every so often "dreams do come true" and this heavenly T206 Jennings PSA 8 Sweet Caporal 350 Subjects offering may be the cardboard masterpiece that solidifies your faith. Currently, the prestigious PSA population report reveals that this miraculous tobacco artifact has only been joined by a single other example as the HIGHEST GRADED Sweet Caporal Jennings portrait subject extant! Famous for his "Eeyah" phrase that he consistently shouted from the coaching box (it means "watch out" in Hawaiian), Hall of Famer Hugh Jennings was the late 19th century shortstop star of the Baltimore Orioles.

Teaming with such stars as Keller, McGraw and Robinson, Jennings played a major role in leading the Orioles to 3 consecutive pennants from 1894 – 1896, even batting .401 in a single season. Yet, for all of his "on the field" accomplishments, he is still widely renowned for his managerial stint with the Detroit Tigers where he won 3 consecutive pennants his first three years of managing (1907 – 1909). His representation on this miraculous T206 example likewise portrays championship caliber via a brilliant Carl Horner portrait pose that is exceptionally projected via an extraordinary blend of vibrant hues.

The yellow/orange background is also stunning, providing the collector with an unparalleled radiant like look with the image projecting spectacular centering. The blinding white borders, razor sharp corner tips, extremely well-centered image and clean surfaces are the final attributes substantiating a technical assessment that places this offering at the pinnacle of cardboard success!
