(LOT 29)
Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey, & Jimmy Durante Autographed Calendar/Business Card from Jimmy Kelly's New York Night Club – PSA/DNA Encapsulated

Presented here is a magnificent Jimmy Kelly's night club business card/calendar signed in black fountain pen by the iconic Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey, and Jimmy Durante! Jimmy Kelly's was an extremely popular Greenwich Village based club at 181 Sullivan Street that featured sensational Blue Ribbon 100-minute floor shows. Dubbed "The Montmartre" of New York, it was opened in 1921 by the extremely tough former boxer Giovanni Di Salvio, who at the age of 14, changed his name to Jimmy Kelly to fit in with the Irish-controlled boxing world of the early 20th century. The extremely popular night club would draw elite members of society as well as a vast number of "gangsters" including the legendary Al Capone and his associated henchmen.

A noted gambler, Jimmy Kelly would bet on just about any sporting event, yet due to his immense wealth, he would ably assist many of the poor Greenwich Village residents (even paying their rent in some instances) as well as donating some of his wealth to a vast number of charitable events. For this extreme kindness, he was nicknamed "The Mayor of Greenwich Village" which was an added attraction for popular figures to meet and greet him at his prestigious nightclub.. We can only assume that Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey and Jimmy Durante were all in attendance one evening to see one of Kelly's desirable floor shows, with a very fortunate attendee/admirer able to have all three of these American legends sign the Jimmy Kelly's business card on the Address & telephone Index lined side. As an additional superlative, all three autographs portray a minimum of "NM/MT 8" strength, with the highly coveted and valuable "Babe Ruth" script featuring "Mint 9" aesthetics.
