One of the most coveted championship team signed balls is a 1951 N.Y. Yankees baseball that includes authentic Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle (rookie) signatures, with this awe-inspiring offering possibly portraying the finest aesthetics of any existing 1951 Yankee team signed ball. Graded a spectacular PSA/DNA NM+/7.5, its origin can be traced back to the formidable hitter Johnny Hopp who actually finished second to Stan Musial in the 1946 N.L. batting title race as well as winning two consecutive World Championships with the Yankees in 1950 and 1951. Many years later in 1989, he would meet up with a young boy named Colby (our esteemed consignor), only a few blocks away on an Avenue N street in Brooklyn, New York. Colby was a "die-hard" Yankee fan and stood "star-struck" as the 73-year old Hopp filled his head with magnificent stories about Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle and the seemingly infinite number of baseball tales he had to offer as they sipped cold lemonade on hot summer afternoons.
