(LOT 925)
Lou Gehrig Signed 1937 GPC – PSA/DNA Encapsulated

One can only imagine the sheer ecstasy felt by Charles E. Lindsley when his August 4, 1937 Government Postcard was returned to him signed by none other than the immortal Henry Louis Gehrig! Encapsulated by PSA/DNA for ironclad authenticity, this outstanding keepsake has been boldly scripted in pencil: "Best Wishes Charles – Lou Gehrig" and portrays conservative "NM/MT 8" strength. Most would agree that if you are assembling some of our National Pastime's most treasured autographs, only a handful could possibly compare to the distinction of possessing a signature of the immortal Lou Gehrig.

We cannot overemphasize the significance of capturing a brilliant Lou Gehrig signature for your elite collection. The legacy of Henry Louis Gehrig is un-paralleled in baseball history. Tragically, his incredible career was cut short by the deadly "ALS" disease (now more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease) which took his life at the young age of 37. Yet, with all of his "on the field" batting accomplishments, he will always be best remembered for his 2,130- consecutive game streak, accounting for his sacred "Iron Horse" nickname. Furthermore, his incomparable farewell "Luckiest Man On The Face Of The Earth" speech at Yankee Stadium on July 4, 1939 will forever be our National Pastime's Gettysburg Address.

Unfortunately, due to his untimely death, there simply aren't enough autographs to accommodate the prolific collector community. Furthermore, a significant number of the remaining Gehrig signatures are rather "faint", a direct reflection of his "laid back" personality. Pale in comparison to Ruth, many of the existing Gehrig autographs are almost non-legible, yet fortunately that is NOT the case with this superb Gehrig signature that projects the aforementioned "8" quality. With that in mind, considering the eloquence and strength of Gehrig's handwriting on this seldom surfacing scripted GPC, we strongly advocate that any elite autograph enthusiast seize it for their prized collection!
