1937 Goudey Thum Movie Complete 26-Subject Set – Parts 1 & 2 for ALL 13 Subjects
COMPLETE SET!!! Arguably the most eclectic of all the popular 1930's Goudey Gum Company issues was their "Thum Movie" cards/flip booklets released in 1937 and 1938. A total of 13 players were released in the set with each subject having a "Part 1" and 'Part 2" issue for a total of 26 different flip-books (2 for each player with black, green, blue and red colors). Measuring 2" x 3", these nebulous flip books were attached by a single staple whereby collectors could sequentially flip thru the pages and watch as though it was a movie. Dubbed with an ACC R342 designation and seldom surfacing in the hobby, these booklets are not encapsulated by either PSA or SGC since they are not designated as single cards.

Seven of the 13 players are Cooperstown Inductees including Mel Ott, Joe DiMaggio, Luke Appling, Bob Feller, Paul Waner, Joe Medwick, and Jimmy Foxx. Presented here just happens to be both the Part 1 & 2 cards for ALL 13 subjects, with all 26 cards exhibiting eye appeal in the "EX/MT" to "NM/MT" range, including both DiMaggios NM+ and both Fellers NM+. Extremely scarce to even the most meticulous collectors, seldom are these cards offered in public auctions, let alone a complete 26-card "Part 1" and "Part 2" compilation. The front sides include a player portrait image, two crossed bats at the top, a boxed message stating to: "Get Part 1 (or 2) to Make a Complete Book", and the bold white text reading: "BIG LEAGUE BASEBALL MOVIES".

The versos include the player's name, checklist#, player flip description for the brief movie in the booklet, and the Goudey Gum Co. of Boston, Mass. caption. As previously stated, all of the cards depict spectacular aesthetics, somehow retaining a majority of their original factory issued qualities. A remarkable gathering, it may be quite some time before another 1937 Goudey Thum Movie complete 26-card Parts 1 & 2 offering comes your way!
