(LOT 455)
1931 Bobby Jones Original Type I Warner Bros. Vitaphone Photo - Measures Approx. 7-1/4" x 9" - PSA Type I LOA

This outstanding Bobby Jones black & white photo depicting his classic gold swing was taken in 1931, and reveals superb contrast and clarity as an on-looking crowd of ardent followers watch the immortal Hall of Fame golfer. Interestingly enough, Jones has no golf club in his hand as he is posing for the Warner Bos. Vitaphone photographer. A diagonal situated back caption reveals "that the hand is quicker than the eye as Bobby Jones pulls a fast one for the camera and that he will be making a series of short subjects for Vitaphone".

The 7-1/4" x 9" photo includes three more than forgiving chips (the lower left chip being most noteworthy), a few light wrinkles, and some diminutive toning/soiling spots, with no glaring surface flaws impeding the critical central image. A charter member of Golf's Hall of Fame (1974) and one of the greatest players to ever swing a golf club, Bobby Jones' 13 Major Championships are second only to Tiger Woods (14) and the immortal Jack Nicklaus (18). It is this celebrated stature that spurs collectors to pursue his period-style keepsakes, with this ultra-scarce 1931 memento enticing even the most sophisticated photo enthusiast! - Full PSA Type I LOA
