(LOT 448)
Babe Ruth Original Type I c.1920's Photo – Measures Approx. 3-5/8" x 4-3/4" – Full PSA Type I LOA

New York Yankee Babe Ruth photos from his pre-1930 playing days continue to rise in value, with these highly coveted keepsakes highly sought after by the hobby's elite enthusiasts. After the Yankees literally "stole" the Bambino from the Boston Red Sox after the 1919 season, Ruth would become New York's starting right fielder due to his uncanny slugging prowess. The "Babe" would not disappoint his adoring New York fan base by walloping an incredible 54 round trippers his inaugural 1920 campaign, and following that up by smacking 59 homers his second season. Ruth was here to stay and he would eventually break that 59-dinger record by reaching the "60 homer" mark in his exalted 1927 campaign! Photos from Ruth's 1920 Yankee playing days are widely sought after by the collecting community, especially when they portray him swinging his might lumber.

That said, presented here is an outstanding c.1920's Babe Ruth batting image revealing the "Sultan of Swat" finishing his mighty swing in batting practice at the legendary Yankee Stadium. What makes this photo extra special is the captivating stadium façade and grandstands situated in the background, with one glance serving as a sheer reminder that Yankee Stadium was truly "the house that Ruth built!" Measuring approximately 3-5/8" x 4-3/4", this iconic image depicts crystal clear clarity and spectacular contrast as the "Babe" watched another scalding line drive head towards the furthest confines of Yankee Stadium. No obtrusive flaws are evident, there a few barely noticeable stray wrinkles, the perimeter is somewhat wavy and the celebrated Culver Pictures, Inc. credit stamp is affixed to the verso. Clearly, Babe Ruth mementos from his 1920's Yankee playing days arguably reside as among the most desirable collectibles in the hobby, and this sensational batting illustration of the "Bambino" resides as a classic memento since it literally transcends time to Ruth's early Yankee playing days! - Full PSA Type I LOA
