THE Rookie Road Jersey A 1981 Baltimore Orioles road knit jersey bearing the number "8" worn by the future Hall of Fame to be; the great Cal Ripken Jr. On the neck of the jersey is the "Wilson" label with the size "44". On the left front tail is a gray patch with "80 1" done in black chain stitch. These numbers denote the year and the set number respectively. Across the jersey front is the script style name Orioles, on the back is the gray nameplate RIPKEN. The player number "8" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the jersey. Ripken rookie year was 1981 in which he played 23 games. This jersey is tagged 1980 and has a nameplate change on it and replaced with Ripkens nameplate. (It was common practice for teams to give a new player | someone else's jersey from a previous season and just sew a new player's nameplate on it.)
