(LOT 1)
1916 M101-4 Sporting News #151 Babe Ruth P.-Boston Red Sox PSA 4.5 VG-EX+

BAMBINO!!!... On May 25, 1935, Babe Ruth had his encore performance at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, clouting three home runs in a single game for the forth time in his career, sixth, when you add the two times he did in World Series play. Fast forward to present day and the Bambino's celebrity has yet to fade. In fact, an argument can be made that he's as popular as he's ever been, as is evident by a reader's poll in USA Today that voted him the "Greatest Sports Star of all Time".

Offered is the ultimate rookie card of Babe Ruth from 1916. Its hard to imagine that a 1-5/8" x 3" piece of cardboard could symbolize more Baseball history than this Sporting News card of Babe Ruth as a thin young pitcher with the Boston Red Sox. He had only pitched in 4 games in 1914 but somehow impressed the right people to warrant major team consideration. This rookie card of Babe Ruth represents a major achievement in all of card collecting, and a gorgeous PSA 4.5 VG-EX+ example is presented here.

All 4 corners are nice and present well. The card front is crisp and bright with great eye appeal. The blank back reverse is well worthy of its grade. This is the most significant Babe Ruth card in the hobby and the new owner will cherish this card for years to come. Here is a chance, that emerges so seldom, for you to own this highly desirable Ruth Rookie card.
