Babe Ruth Plays the Saxophone w/Gehrig's Fingers In His Ears - Original Type I Underwood & Underwood Sepia Photo - Measures Approx. 6-3/4" x 8-1/2" - PSA Type I LOA

When you think about how many times Babe Ruth "blasted" tape measure home runs into Yankee Stadium's legendary upper deck, ironically this extremely eclectic Type I photo offering portrays the "Sultan of Swat" "blasting a tune" on his coveted saxophone! Unfortunately for his slugging teammate Lou Gehrig, Ruth's tunes do NOT suffice as "music to his ears", with the immortal "Iron Horse" clearly using both index fingers to cover his ears. One of the most candid images you will ever encounter from this dynamic duo, it places us outside the playing field to clearly understand that life truly exists "outside the white lines".

No doubt, Ruth and Gehrig dominated opposing pitchers at an unparalleled level, but there was so much more to these two baseball "gods" besides their batting exploits. This 6-3/4" x 8-1/2" black & white crystal clear photo surely emphasizes that point as it serves as a steadfast reminder of how Ruth and Gehrig enjoyed each other's company before their eventual feud. Other than a negligible upper right corner chip, no obtrusive flaws are evident, with the verso revealing the Underwood & Underwood stamp and detailed caption. Seldom is the collector afforded the opportunity to capture these two baseball immortals together in a candid "good natured" moment, substantiating why we highly recommend placing the final bid on this ultra-obscure image!
