(LOT 629)
1927 New York Yankees Players Incl. Babe Ruth & Miller Huggins - Original Type I News Photo - Measures Approx. 7" x 9-3/4" - PSA Type I LOA

Arguably the greatest team in baseball history is the 1927 New York Yankees, led by the "Sultan of Swat's" 60 home runs and "Murderer's Row" of Ruth, Gehrig, Lazerri, Meusel and Combs. The Yankees would win a staggering 110 games against only 44 loses to the tune of an incredible .710 winning percentage, eventually claiming their second world championship by sweeping the Pirates in an uncontested four games. Along with the aforementioned sluggers, spearheading this juggernaut was a steady pitching staff led by Herb Pennock and Wait Hoyt, with their Hall of Fame manager Miller Huggins paving the way.

Presented here is a magnificent 7" x 9-3/4" black & white Type I photo depicting five of the legendary cogs for this "machine-like" club including from left to right: Hoyt, Ruth, Huggins, Meusel, and Shawkey. Depicting the finest imaginable clarity and contrast, the image appears as if it was recently issued, showing no signs of any obtrusive wear, virtually defying "father time". The verso reveals the highly-coveted caption outlining the image's details, with the image taken directly after the Yankees clinched their second consecutive American League pennant. A bona-fide 1927 collectible, it allows the collector to reminisce about an era when the Yankees dominated our National Pastime at an unparalleled level!
