(LOT 595)
1951 Bowman #1 Whitey Ford Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

THE CHAIRMAN!!!... Edward Charles "Whitey" Ford is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher who spent his entire 16-year career with the New York Yankees. He was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. He began his Major League Baseball career on July 1, 1950 with the Yankees and made a spectacular debut, winning his first nine decisions before losing a game in relief. Ford received a handful of lower-ballot Most Valuable Player votes despite throwing just 112 innings, and was voted the AL Rookie of the Year by the Sporting News.

Ford pitched 2 consecutive one-hit games in 1955 to tie a record held by several pitchers. A young Whitey Ford on the toughest card from the 1951 Bowman series, card #1, which is also his rookie card. Spectacular colors and strong centering displayed behind the NM-MT 8 glass. As nice of an 8 as you will ever see. Bordering a bump, this one's for you.
