(LOT 170)
1965 Challenge The Yankees Game - Roger Maris (PSA 6) – "1 of 2"; HIGHEST GRADED COPY!

Here is one you don't see very often! This extremely rare 1965 Challenge The Yankees Game Roger Maris PSA 6 offering just happens to be one of only two specimens at this plateau with NONE graded higher, standing tall as the finest of its kind. In 1964 and '65, the Hassenfield Bros. of Pawtucket, R.I. issued a box diced game that included 50 baseball subjects. Measuring approximately 4" x 5-1/2", the blank-backed cards included black & white player images and a number of biographical details and statistics.

The only methodology for distinguishing the between the two years is by examining the different stats, with the three most valuable subjects from the 1965 set being Mantle, Aaron and Maris. Its unquestionable scarcity is justified by PSA's population report that lists less than 100 encapsulated copies for ALL 50 subjects at the time this was written. The presented PSA 6 Maris is one of only 7 PSA examples, and as previously stated, the finest of its kind. Some of the "bio" and "stats" include his height, weight, birth date, 1961 home run record (61), four All-Star selections ('59-'62), and two MVP Awards ('60,'61).

The lower half "Performance Profile" includes various baseball results numbered from 2 thru 12 (Triple, Strikeout, Foul Ball, etc.), and the fine aesthetics support the strong "EX/MT 6" assessment. A "best of the rest" offering, this truly obscure Maris memento virtually never surfaces for the taking, substantiating why we highly recommend you seize it now for your distinguished type card or Roger Maris gatherings!
