1961 Sam's Family Restaurant #61 Roger Maris Sam Gordon PSA 6 EX-MT
RARE 61 MARIS!!!... This postcard was issued to commemorate the presentation of Roger Maris' historic 61st home run ball back to the slugger. Pictured with Maris is Sam Gordon, owner of a restaurant chain in Northern California. Gordon purchased the ball from the fan who caught it, Sal Durante, and flew Durante and his wife, and Maris to Sacramento where he paid $5000 for the ball and presented it to Maris, who later donated it to The Hall of Fame. Rarely offered, this 1961 Sam's Restaurant Postcard is 1 of 3 in the PSA 6 holder with nothing grading higher.
