(LOT 104)
1959 Armour Bacon Roger Maris KC Athletics – "Waist High Pose" (PSA 1.5) – One of Only Four Encapsulated Copies!

In 1959, the Armour Bacon Company printed several Kansas City Athletic baseball player issues as a promotional tool for their popular product. Four different subjects are known to exist including two Roger Maris variations ("Hands on Knees" & "Waist High" images). Considered extremely scarce, PSA has only encapsulated 8 total Roger Maris examples for both poses COMBINED! Presented here just happens to be one of the four "Waist High" poses, a spectacular PSA 1.5 example that projects aesthetics far beyond the technical assessment!

Roger Maris' legendary assault on the "Sultan of Swat's" sanctified single season 60 homer record will forever stand as one of baseball's all-seek his most eclectic/desirable cardboard issues, and only a handful could possibly compete with the rarity of this seldom -surfacing marvel. The strict grade is simply perplexing for the card presents itself in "NM" condition starting with a brilliant black & white "waist high" pose emanating outstanding resolution and contrast. The right-side text vividly reads: "MAKE A HIT! – ALWAYS SERVE – ARMOUR FRANKS", and the corners portray razor sharp tips. We can only assume some faint surface issues barely visible to the naked eye account for the grade, but considering its world-class eye appeal and irrefutable rarity, the "right to own a copy" far surpasses the virtually irrelevant technical assessment!
