(LOT 46)
1959 L.A. Dodgers #906 Sandy Koufax (PSA Mint 9) - "1 of 1" & the HIGHEST PSA Graded Example!

Synonymous with Sandy Koufax's arguable stature as baseball's greatest "peak value" pitcher ever is this miraculous 1959 L.A. Dodgers PSA "Mint 9" Koufax postcard that STANDS ALONE as the finest of its kind! Indeed, PSA has encapsulated 25 of these seldom-surfacing keepsakes with only a SINGLE Koufax "Mint 9" specimen listed on their "Pop" chart with NONE graded higher. Only two years after the Dodgers relocated from Brooklyn, N.Y. to Los Angeles, CA., the Dodgers began issuing player postcards sold in "10 packs" at Stadium souvenir stands.

The most coveted and valuable subject continues to be the immortal Sandy Koufax who from 1963 thru 1966, claimed three Cy Young awards, two World Series titles and struck out a remarkable 382 batters in a single season, still a record for southpaw hurlers. The virtually "un-hittable" fireballer never looked better than his classic pitching pose as he releases another one of his blazing fastballs. Brilliant hues, razor sharp perimeters including four pinpoint corners, immaculate surfaces and crystal clear clarity all combine to justify the "Unique for the Grade" status that places this Koufax gem as one of his most astonishing cardboard heirlooms!
