(LOT 33)
Scarce 1910-'12 Plow Boy Cabinet – Joe Tinker (SGC "Auth") - One of Only 5 Professionally Graded Examples on ALL "Pop" Charts

Presented here is a remarkable SGC "Auth" Plow Boy Cabinet depicting the immortal first link of that renowned double play combo, Cooperstown inductee Joe Tinker. Extremely rare, this 1910-'12 issued museum worthy masterpiece resides as one of only five graded copies by ANY professional grading service (all five are SGC encapsulated copies)! Among the rarest of all 20th Century tobacco issues, the approximate 5-3/4" x 8" Plow Boy cabinets were premiums that required "pipe" coupon redemptions to "obtain the baseball player of your choice."

Eventually, declining sales and the hefty premium required for these amazing cabinets resulted in very few of the baseball images ever placed in circulation. Relatively fine centering, a period-style grandstand setting and no glaring surface flaws near the central image are some of the visually pleasing attributes emanating from this eclectic keepsake. Not even the standard toning/soiling within the borders as well as a diminutive area of stock loss near the upper right edge diminish the stellar eye appeal of this esteemed offering.

The verso's highly coveted "PLOW BOY TOBACCO" advertisement is extremely bold and vivid, and includes the following additional text: "SMOKE OR CHEW – SAVE THE PIPE COUPONS". Further elevating the already desirable stature of this cardboard obscurity is the ultra-tough Coupon redemption advertisement that lists a number of prizes (Knives, Razors, Playing Cards, Leather Books, etc.) one could obtain via the submission of an "x" number of coupons. While, the "Auth" grade is due to moderately compromised edges as well as some microscopic-like pinholes near each of the four corner quadrants, the cards incredible rarity, and unique Tinker image combine to minimize the significance of the "authentic" assessment!
