(LOT 45)
1971 Topps #400 Hank Aaron (PSA Mint 9)

Along with the 1962 wood-grain bordered issue, the 1971 Topps set resides as the most condition sensitive compilation ever distributed by the this renowned Chewing Gum Company. Simply stated, due to their easily flaking black-borders, it is an excruciating task to find 'Mint" examples for any of these subjects. With that in mind, presented here is one of the most amazing Hank Aaron cards in the hobby, a breathtaking PSA Mint 9 specimen that has only been bested by a mere 3 examples. Sporting one of the finest set of black borders for any 1971 Topps subject, had it not been for some microscopic-like white touching at the utmost lower corner tips, this miraculous keepsake just might be claiming bragging rights as the fourth "Gem Mint 10" 1971 Aaron subject. Every other technical aspect is synonymous with perfection including image quality, centering, pristine surface gloss and print registration. Arguably speaking, 1971 might have been Aaron's finest season, with the 37-year old slugger posting his highest homer mark (47), 118 R.B.I.'s and a stellar .327 batting average. That said, why not celebrate the immortal "Hammerin' Hank's" remarkable '71 campaign by seizing this magnificent gem that offers unparalleled aesthetics to even the most meticulous collector!
