Vintage Cards Shine in Memory Lane's I Own It Now Sale

Buyers circled around some high-grade legends in the event that gives collectors the chance to secure some high-end items at a set price or roll the dice and wait to make an offer.

TUSTIN, CA — A 1933 Goudey Sport Kings Babe Ruth graded PSA 8 sold for $53,000 in Memory Lane's recently concluded I Own It Now catalog sale. In all, 11 individual vintage sports cards sold for more than $10,000 each. The consignment event places items for sale at fixed prices for a set period of time, after which offers can be made. The selling prices reflect a 15% buyer's premium.

Pre-War cards of all kinds proved popular with buyers. One of the best known 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter Charles Comiskey cards (PSA 8) was purchased for $29,150 while an N29 Buck Ewing graded PSA 9 found a new home for a price of $19,550.

Grove (PSA 8) netted $28,750, a 1888 N162 Goodwin Champions Tim Keefe (PSA 8) sold for $25,875, a 1935 Goudey 4-in-1 with Ruth/McManus/Brandt/Maranville (PSA 8) changed hands at $22,000 and a 1915 Cracker Jack #103 Joe Jackson graded VG sold for $18,457.

1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle

Several key post-War rookie and star in high grade were sold by the deadline including an EX/NM 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle, purchased for $31,000, a 1965 Topps Roberto Clemente graded PSA 9 at $7,475 and a 1955 Topps Hank Aaron rated PSA 8.5, at $6,900.

Vintage football cards sold included a 1958 Topps Bart Starr graded PSA 10. The second year card of the legendary leader of Vince Lombardi's Packers sold for a whopping $25,620.
